Into the Business
Pablo Escobar started his criminal career stealing and reselling gravestones, also stealing cars and doing street scams. In the 1960’s he became a small time marijuana dealer and also a gunman in the drug-trafficking business. The first big money he made was collecting ransom after kidnapping a wealthy businessman. He then used this money to work in the drug-trafficking world in the early 1970’s, which was the perfect time because the want for cocaine in the U.S. was about to boom.
