We as a group chose Pablo Escobar not only because he was rich and powerful, but also because he was a great contributor to
the poor community of Medellin, Colombia. We looked at other options too, but Escobar really caught our attention when we
found out how good and bad he was. We’ve heard about him before from his song but we never got to find out what his legacy
was. The way we found his legacy was by researching about him.
Researching was the hardest part of this project because of all the info and citations we had to gather. First, we took two full pages of notes on his whole life for his background information. Next, we found some primary and secondary sources that we could get more information to make sure that all of the stories and facts about him are true and something someone made up. Finally, we put everything together and got rid of all the untrue things about him, and kept all the good facts and stories that shows the real Pablo Escobar.
We selected the website because we both take graphics and knew it would be an easier presentation category to work on. We both didn’t have the skills to make a documentary because we didn’t take digital media and we don’t have time to come in after school to work on it. The way we created our website was by using weebly.com. We used the best pictures we could find to put the website to make it look more appealing. We also used drop down menus to keep it looking more organized.
Our project relates to the NHD project because our topic affected the U.S. and Colombia. Pablo Escobar may not seem like a good guy but the poor community in Colombia still remember the great things he did for them. The U.S. still remembers him for all the drug trade he brought into the U.S. with his drug trafficking business. He deserves to be remembered because although he did all those bad things, he still remembered his community and always gave back.
